I see all of these Myspace pictures of my friends where the picture is black and white but something in the picture (a belt or bandana) is colored

It looks so cool! Is there a software or some kind of Photoshop thing i can do?

A easy way to do this, if you don't know how to use photoshop is to use www.picnik.com , you just upload your image , then go to edit , and after that you go to create, and then you make the image black and white, and then you use the paint brush to select the areas you want in color.

Using layers in photoshop, you can desaturate selective parts of the image.

yep on photoshop. its long directions but look it up online there is probably some site that can walk you through it.

This technique is pretty simple to do. What you do is select the area that you want to be coloured, then copy it and paste it. This will be a new layer automatically. Then select the background and colourise it black and white. Voila!

Oh yeah this is for Photoshop.

in photoshop you dont need to copy and paste or make other layers. use the magnetic or polygon lasso tool, use it to select the object you want left in color. click select and then click inverse(keyboard shortcut - shift +ctrl + i ). click image, then adjustments, then click desaturate(keyboard shortcut - shift + ctrl + u )
