I was wondering if there are any pet websites out there..like a social kind of site where you can make a profile and post pics of your pet and talk about them, etc. Like I have seen them for babies, where you can monitor their growth and progress. I've tried searching but no luck! I find it hard that there isn't anything like this because there are so many pet lovers!

Yes there is a couple good ones...www.dogster.com is one and www.catster.com is the other...both great.
